Great Gable last Sunday

Hi Everyone,

We went up Great Gable last Sunday in fine weather with a good prospect for the day and we were not disappointed. You can see from the first photo how clear the air was for taking piccies. This is a view down Ennerdale with Haystacks over on the right. If you click on the photo it will enlarge and then you might just make out Black Sail Hut on the right of the valley bottom nestling in underneath Haystacks, its very small mind.

This next photo shows Barbara scrambling up over the rocks towards the top of Gable, she had not been up it since she was a teenager and only had memories of frightening proportions! So on the scrambley bit I followed up close after her and she had no problems, even though she has little legs.

For those of you who have booked to come on the Wild Weekend Camping Extravaganza (9th & 10th May), can I say that there is a report circulating that there is no, I repeat, no rice pudding left at George Fishers, the last portion has been snapped up...... I shall have to go in myself tomorrow to check this shocking news as I cannot possibly go wild camping without it....I can just imagine the scene at breakfast, Pete handing me a plate of cold porridge, ugh disgusting.....

Meanwhile, I have updated the walks list for May but only up until the 12th because during the Keswick Mountain Festival, Pete and I and David Ferguson will be leading walks so cannot do any for Keswick Rambles and Terry has decided to stay at home. So if you want to walk then you had best go to here:- http://www.keswickmountainfestival.co.uk/ and sign up for some excitement. Salomon are sponsoring my walks up Haystacks with a free T shirt for every walker and David's walk up Pillar has a free Result jacket for the first 10 bookings.
