The rain has come down in bucketfuls today, so it was just as well that it was not designated as a walk day, mind you Alan rang the other day and was full of woe that we were not going out today. Well Alan if you are reading this you may be pleased that we saved you a soaking.
I spent some of the day in email wrangling with our previous registrar of our website which I have been trying to wrestle off them so that we can get it going again after Terry pulled the plug...But no luck, I have drawn a blank so far and they say I must go back to the UK company that looks after website domain names, anyway, I won't bore you with any more of this piffle except to say that they don't make it easy. So it is not for want of trying on my part that we don't have a website that I can access as the moment, but I will persevere.
On a happier note, we did receive some rather pleasant photos from Tess so I will post a few.
First up is Ewen, David and Jane on the summit of Clough Head all looking rather smug that they have completed the climb in sunshine.
Next we have the distant view of Skiddaw from Clough Head.
Then Blencathra seen in all her autumn glory decked out in her purple heather, and many a time I have come down those slopes in amongst those lovely flowers. I never tire of seeing heather in bloom and if you want to see some of the best in Lakeland then take a walk up Walla Crag, you will not be disappointed.
Lastly, Tess sends this photo with the comment "Don't we look a happy lot."
Well I must agree that Tess and Ewen do look very happy, so well done to all of you happy hill climbers on Clough Head last Saturday (22nd) in the sunshine.

Pity it's been so wet here these last few days (off and on, let's be honest!!!). Thanks for publishing the photos Lyn, I've suddenly realised how scary I look in those new sunglasses! Hopefully the weather will hold out for the walks over the bank holiday - I've got relatives coming up to stay, and it's not fair having rain when they want to go walking.
By the way, like the bit about Ewan, David and Jane looking 'smug'! Just be grateful I didn't add the pic taken by Ewan when we were having lunch at White Side - not my best side profile, as I appeared to have a trout pout! Thanks to Ewan for taking that when I was pulling my face...
Hope to see you around some time, and go on one of you and Pete's walks too...
Oh, by the way, hope something is sorted out with the website soon, although this blog site is a joy to look at!
Yes I have received an email today whilst up Sheffield Pike etc which looks like progress for the website. I will attend to it all tomorrow, meanwhile Pete is cooking Chicken Tandoori and the aroma from the kitchen is scintillating.....
Thank you for sharing your photos with us, Tess. I like especially the one showing Blencathra in heather.
I'm not sure, Pete, is it the Jane who participated the Red Screes to Fairfield and the Blencathra walks, too? I think it might be possible.
Fingers crossed that your weather will improve! Heavens, not long until the 7th of September! I'm dreaming of beautiful walks in the sunshine!
Kira, if it's sunny over there, any chance you could bring it over please? We could do with some decent weather!
Hope the chicken tandoori went well for you Lyn and Pete - we managed to stink our small kitchen out with fish!!! Not as nice as a curry...
Hi Kira, Yes it's the same Jane and look out for more of her as she was out today on Sheffield Pike!
Good morning all, yes, on the Sheffield Pike walk pics I can see that Jane is Jane! And I can see Michael, who participated the Esk Pike walk the other day, too!
It is sunny and warm here in Southern Germany. 6.30 am and already shorts and T-shirts temperatures. No rain in sight. Beautiful weekend in sight, but we don't have a bank holiday on Monday, regrettably.
So wait for me, I'll bring a suitcase full of sunshine with me to Keswick. Remember, it was ALWAYS good weather when I was up there, the very few raindrops don't count.
That hailstorm on Hindscarth? That walk in the pouring rain on Hindscarth, too? Which hailstorm, which pouring rain, I can't remember it...?
Scintillating? A new english word, Lyn, thanks...
